Do you know what kind of bird this is? I would guess some kind of raven, or crow? I have never seen a crow with blue eyes. I really like how intense the look. This is a nice close up, with out a feather out of place. Beautiful bird.

Annie, this is a great image. You have captured very well that ferocious stare almost daring you to come closer. The clarity of the eye and plumage against the blurred background and the filling of the frame is very effective.

This is an awesome closeup. The straight on capture gets the eyes and face. The detail is incredibly sharp. Nicely muted background. It has good contrast . Very nice shot

This bird knows what focus is! I've never seen a black bird with such a range of feather "tones," which you captured beautifully. His beak is such an eye-catcher. An outstanding portrait from every angle!

Here's looking at you is the expression I see on his face. This is a very interesting photo. Love how close up it is. Your taking a chance of being close up on a wild bird paid off because this is a great shot. The colors are clean and crisp. The cropping is perfect.

It seems for you its just a thing of experience that what you try finally turns out right. Even if it is for you just the first decent shot, to me it looks professional already. I know it is not easy to photograph a black bird with reflecting feathers and get light and colors just right. The almost square framing brings the beauty of the bird as your excellent capture of crisp detail and natural color to full attention of the viewer.
