Great capture of this lovely heron hiding in the grasses. The black background really makes him stand out well. I like the expression you caught here as the wind ruffles some of his feathers. Lighting and focus very good. Very nice composition. Suzanne

I have no equipment to take a photo in the dark; however, this is a stunning contrast for a Great Blue Heron! I particularly like the wing effect on the feathers because it show the true nature of his habitat. I love Blue Herons and this photo show how proud and confident they are! They don't move very much so great job seeing this one in the dark!!

this is a grey heron: unfortunately we don't have blues;
the pic was taken in full sun, not in the night; the bg is dark because it is dark water in the shade
