I've never seen one like this so thank you for the education. It is fragile looking and very rich in that orange hue.

I like your compositional style , full face and in your face and that makes it very easy for viewers to engage with.

I do think that a little more breathing room up top would not have hurt this image at all and would balance it a bit more. Have you tried a square format? Try it, square formats work really well with circular objects because our eyes are held in longer.

I find the semi desaturated colours of the background interesting and you do say that this is SOOC photography, but it does look a litte desat.

The main focal point, your poppy, is sharp as a tack, and it is also very well saturated in natural and not overcooked hues. I like how the dark orange dissipates into softer orange around the edges and as a photographer you have shown this clearly to us. You have shown us the beauty of the natural world.

Do these flowers have a pleasant scent I wonder?

A beautiful blossom which is shown in very fine detail. Not only are the petals well textured, but the stamens are remarkably sharp. Very nice color against a complimentary background. Best of luck in the contest.

Excellent photo of a flower and showing its natural intense hues. I like how the dark background naturally frames this, and how you kept the intensity in this one. The stem coming in from the diagonal bottom left also is a great addition.

This is a very nice picture of a poppy. I like how it's wide open and I like that its orangish red instead of bright red. Background looks good also. Thanks for sharing

yes, the contrasting colors between back ground and flower, really help makes the flower move towards the viewer and helps emphasize the oranges.
