a vyber six Eileen for this wonderful close up;
it is obviously one of the many primary hybrids of Paphiopedilum rothschildianum, the most expensive lady slipper from Borneo;
in contrast to this hybrid, P.rothschildianum has perfecty straight petals;

WOW....I looked at this photo and my mouth literally dropped open. I can see why you fell in love with this orchid....and with your expert photography techniques, you brought out what you saw and shared it with us. SIMPLY SPECTACULAR. The dark background definitely defines this orchid even more so. It helps bring out all the detail not to mention the color. WOW....amazing....Congrats on your third place win. BRAVO....BRAVO....EXCELLENT....OUTSTANDING....FANTABULOUS.....WOW
Thanks for sharing.

Nice creative shot. I love the highlights of the bloom and then having all go to black. The vertical pose is nice and tight highlighting the beauty of the plant.

Wow. Very dramatic looking image Eileen. The black background accents the nicely rendered colors of this orchid. Nor sure if you gave it a slight painted look or if not the focus really works. Definitely this will be a contender in the contest. I will be looking for it ~ Steve

I tried to give it more of a painterly feel but I did not think it took. Perhaps it did and I did not notice since it was subtle P) Thanks Steve!

A scene for those that can 'see'. Thank you for helping to sharpen our focus.

I think this is an extremely rare variety. It is certainly beautiful and shown to great advantage against the dark background. Excellent detail and beautiful colors. Best of luck in the contest.
