An awesome picture of this bizarre and well titled plant, I've never seen anything like it in my life - it does resemble a golf ball but with an orange mane like a lion, surrounded by lush wide green leaves that stand boldly out and contrast well with the odd flower/fruit. Great clarity and positioning, and the lighting is just right to accentuate the piece even further - great find and best of luck in the competition! :)

I've never before seen a plant like this and I agree that the center looks like a golf ball. The light is really great and the colors are beautiful and vibrant. Best of luck in the contest!

It is so interesting as I have traveled in lots of tropical islands and Hawaii and have never seen on of these plants. The lighting is good and the tight crop works well. Interesting shot.

Can't help you with the plant identification but I do agree that your scene does resemble a golf ball in a plant! The classical compositon that you employed works nicely. Exposure and sharpness are good. Well done and good luck!

As artists we should pay attention to how nature uses complementary colors. The placement of the "golf ball" blossom of this tropical plant and the light source lead the viewer's eye through Each of the fern-like bracts. Interesting piece.

I have no idea too. At first sight the picture looked like that of an exotic flower!:) You have framed it well. The light, colour and the composition have worked well. Good effort!

Excellent choice of subject with an exquisite golf ball core!

I've seen a plant like this here in the Philippines we call "Pitogo" but I haven't seen that round thing!

Verdant overtone framed the title subject aesthetically!

Sharply focused.
Fine features & varied textures...

Overhead spotlighting leaving natural vignette on the sides.
Ideal off centered framing...
A visual feast!

If only the subject was green, this would have been a runaway winner!
A fearless forecast, I'm sure!

Thanks for sharing...

Golf ball plant....oh oh oh groan! :-)

Those touches of oil paint filter and other post processing works spectacularly on this, it is not overdone. I do think , however, that the green is jarring and screams too loudly, but that is artisitc prerogative and I bow to yours.

Good vignette further highlights the golf ball...and off center composition works to enhance the photograph.
