This must be some of the last greetings summer delivered this year. This little flower is indeed lovely. It looks gorgeous on the misty background. The colors of the petals and throat and are indeed well defined.

What a wonderful way to put it Cleo. The very last thing to blossom at my place are the New England Asters and I noticed this morning that I am beginning to see their purple colors show so it is truly just about the end of the flowering season at my place....I always feel like I go into mourning for a while at the end of the season....thank God for all my photos which scroll by continuously on my screen saver all winter.

Anyway dear Cleo thank you so much for checking this guy out...for the wonderful review and the extra sparkle. I so appreciate it. You definitely made me smile this morning. Thank you.

    You're most welcome!
Winter is just the time nature needs to rest and renew itself. There is beauty in snow covered landscapes as well. :o)

Oh I agree Cleo....it IS gorgeous around here all the time .....I particularly like the way things look in the winter all covered w/ snow. Just takes me a little time to get used to the idea of no flowers. Starting the big 'cut down' today and I always go into mourning for a few days after that....lol

    I understand the mourning...lol

Oh my! This is stunning photography of this Nigella (Love-in-a-Mist) beauty. Your central composition is engaging. This after dark photo has revealed beautiful lighting and good details on this gorgeous white flowering . Your spot on sharp focus and dark background accentuate this white flower beautifully. Thanks for your good artists notes and storytelling with this image. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing! I love this!

lol...I have to figure Mary Lynn, that when a review starts out w/ an "Oh my!" that it's going to be a good one! ...and yours is just wonderful! Thank you so very much.

Now, I know you grow these. Do you grow all the colors?? I am not typically a white flower kinda girl but I am just in love w/ these gorgeous little guys...will DEFINITELY be growing them again next season too. Anyway, thank you again Mary Lynn...especially for the extra sparkle. You are just a doll!!

How lucky you are to be able to grow such a beautiful creation in your garden. It looks like nature's ballet with the mist flowers being the dancer's skirts. How lovely.

Unusual looking flower; reminds me of the plant on Little Shop of Horrors LOL; good background that makes the whole piece "pop."; like the burst of purple at the center; those little guys at the center look as if they're looking for something; love the white foliage; great focus; nice, soft look. Got a great knack for gardening and photography. Take care.

I find the seed head at the center just so amazing swimmer and they DO look as if they're searching for something in this piece so that's a great descriptive note from you! It's a wonderful review all the way around and I so appreciate you checking it out and then giving it another gold star. You are just a doll. Thank you sooo much.

This flower is truly beautiful and you have pictured it so well. I especially like the softness and elegance of the white petals, and also the dark background. It is perfect for this flower.

This is a strange photo in the sense that it is both sharp and soft at the same time, and it is also such clear and well defined details to be seen in the dancing stamens. The exposure and white balance is perfect.

The tight cropping works really well and the slight diagonal position of the flower makes for a good and well balanced composition. I think this is a truly beautiful and well taken photo, and with an excellent DOF.

I may have photographed these white NIGELLA more than any other blossom in my gardens this season AV.....and I always worry about the softness of the petals....lol I have stood for longest time...in tthe dark...adjusting my camera settings to get this one just right so I completely understand your comment re: the image being both soft and sharp at the same time.

Having said that though- I am always so happy to see you review one of my pieces. Not only did you do your typically excellent job here but gave my new piece just an outstanding review AND a gold star. Thank you so much dear AV. I sincerely appreciate it.

First of all let me say this photograph is so incredible I don't know where to begin to complement it. So be ready for a lengthy review! Lol.
The technical aspects are exceptional, focus, clarity, detail, angle of shot, all amazingly captured especially at night.
With that being said, this is such a beautiful flower itself with so much interest to the
Viewer. I am an advid gardener
And I don't think I have seen this one before.
Its structure is so intricate and delicate along with much detailed interior. I simply love it.
Lastly, can you tell me what zone you are in and where to find these beauties. I would love to try them in my garden next year.
This is truly a remarkable non edited shot and deserving of 10 stars.
Great job Deborah!

LOL...being prone to lengthy reviews myself Marsha I have to say that your 'warning' at the onset of your review made me laugh!! So let me tell you just a bit about the flower itself- I am enamored!! Quite simply. I have to grow them as an annual here where I live....winters are very harsh so it won't survive from one season to the next. My Zone is mostly a solid 3 although portions of my gardens have been known to act Zone 4-ish some years but I never count on that. All I can say is GROW these guys...you will NOT be disappointed. I typically buy starts from a friend who runs a nursery but if you can't find them around you I'm sure you can find them on-line.

As for your review Marsha- thank you so much for giving my new piece such an outstanding one....AND a gold star as well. Honestly, I am flattered.

You're wlecome Deborah, and its well deserved for that shot. I can't wait to try them this coming spring.
I have never seen them around here so I will definitely be looking online. I am zone 5 so I hope they will look as nice as yours.
