For an unedited image this is outstanding! The clarity is of the highest standard and the positioning good. This is not a criticism but a slightly tighter crop would make the subject stand out even more. A real pleasure to view. Mike

a perfect and clean close up of this very common Monarch butterfly on the Tithonia diversifolia, commonly called Mexican sunflower;
nice natural colors with sharp focus;

Excellent capture of the butterfly and flower with excellent lighting and focus

I would have closed the frame, but I do not think this should take from the rate

thanks for sharing

Wow. What a great scene. The isolation of the Monarch and the flower make this an out of the ordinary photo. As impressed as I am with this scene, I am even more impressed with your bio. Perhaps you are one of the few that are gifted to 'see' and able to share that gift with others here on FAR. Very well done Soul Feeder. You have assuredly fed this soul ~ Steve

    thanks, Steve. What bio? You hit the nail, by mentioning the term, "isolation" I intentionally did that, and even positioned myself, in such a way that I have a good vantage point, to also get the clear background. Great review.

You have indeed pictured this butterfly well, and I especially like the simplicity of the photo showing just the flower and the butterfly. I am impressed that you managed to get a background like this without editing, and the light green color is perfect for the flower and butterfly to stand out in an excellent way.

Your focus is spot on and sharp and it is such clear and well defined details to be seen in the butterfly. I also think the exposure is perfect.

The format and framing works well and the butterfly has got a very good placement a bit off to the right. Indeed a beautiful and well taken photo with an excellent DOF, and I wish you luck with the contest.

    WOW! Thanks, Sweet Annie for this extraordinary rating and review. I intentionally stand in a spot where I can have a good vantage point, to isolate my subject, and this one just facing the green grass in the foreground.

    Thank you for explaining the lovely background, and you are more than welcome both for the review and for the stars.

Yes, I reckon this has to be one of nature's traditional scenes; butterfly on bloom. Yours presented here looks to be a very good example. It has a fine traditional composition, its sharp with good exposure. Well done and good luck!

Excellent - color, composition. So simple, yet elegant. The butterfly knows that it matches the flower's colors. All the details are sharp and clear. Great work.

    I love your name "soulfeeder". I, too, get so much nourishment from nature and taking photos. It helps keep me sane and often times just gets me outdoors! Thank you, especially, for this photo. I love it!

    Thanks, my dear. I have just visited your profile, and found out, that you were born a Minnesotan. I lived in Minneapolis when I was single, for 13 years. The cold however, made me think of moving down here in the South. I also love your lilies and other bloom images. You must have a good view there Oregon, huh? Some place that I would really love to visit someday. Take care and have a great week. God bless, my dear.

    Thank you! I grew up in Minneapolis and then after a divorce I moved here to Portland to stay with my sister. So long ago, now. I have been here for 30 years. I will be sure to follow you on FAR!

    Me, too. I am not pretty active here. Two teenagers and one twelve years old, really made me busy.
