For a quick snappy this is a very enjoyable photo.
You can hear the chirping and fluttering.
I like the motion of the wings. It gives the shot a lot of action and an in the moment feel.

Thanks a million for your complementary review on the Goldfinch Battle on the feeder. Today there were even more of them all trying to find a spot on the feeder at the same time I counted 12 at one point but as I was sitting in a different place in the kitchen I could not take anymore pictures that would come out without reflections on the inside of the window panes.

Great capture to get all these goldfinches in one photo! I don't mind the motion blur, because it shows the fast action that was going on at your feeder. The colors of the birds are beautiful. The birds stand out very nicely from the dark background.

Thanks for your review... sorry the blur of the wings distracted you the title stated it"s a battle on the feeder. I don't have a complex DSLR just a Compact Camera.

love birds, so love this picture of them all swirling round the feeder in different poses, really interesting positions..a bird fight, quite an amusing thought, but when we remember that for natural creatures finding food is their constant life, makes so much sense..

Well, despite its few shortcomings I think you have posted a very enjoyable shot here! Its well composed and has good exposure. OK, some of the wings are blurred but I think this adds to the shot rather than detracts from it! Nicely taken!

I'd just refilled the feeder on my return from Portugal & the Goldfinches were going at it as if the seeds were about to run out again.

Wow! another really busy day at the feeder at yours, if only you could charge you'd be raking it in lol! I love the image of the many finches together squabbling over the seeds (it rarely if ever gets nasty if I remember rightly, I wouldn't like that!) in an almost playful manner, and the speed and quickness of their movements is astonishing - the proof is in the photograph - with a grand array of colour and activity as they all get their fill (hopefully!). Although as you say the settings weren't fast enough, I like that blur of movement to make it feel more alive in the picture - a great capture Susan, well done!! :)

Thanks a million for your complementary & thoughtful review. It's fun watching them jostling for room on the saucer at the base. At times I've seen twelve finches giving for space when the feeder is full. There are six on the feeder at the moment all peacefully feeding.

You have caught the action well here, which is what you were aiming for. The blurred wings do not really bother me, as they show the action, rather than the freeze frame of the scene. Well done :-)
