Exellent shot Fred. I can count the scales on his body (scales the right word?)
His colors are really nice and so different from other monitor lizards I've seen.

Good image of this guy sg.
I had no idea the patterns on their skin was quite so intricate. Nice focus showing all the detail. Good natural color too.

My pleasure sg....very cool to see something so unusual.
-
if you want someting VERY unusual, look at my entry to "you don't see that every day" contest;
-
well DID go have a look sg....couldn't imagine what it might be...... have to say it was probably the VERY last thing I expected.
-
as I indicated, this was not for dog lovers; and VERY fortunately, we don't see it every day
-
I know sg....and I'm sure you understand why I didn't review it.....I'm a wimp when it comes to animals.

This guy looks like he hasn't missed many meals. I like this presentation with its fine detail in the scaly skin. I understand these lizards are quite voracious.

A great close up capture of this great Lizard (the biggest you'll get I think!) that also would have done well in the camouflage in nature contest as it fits in so well with it's immediate surroundings - although the wonderful patterns on the beast captured with great clarity and DOF give it away, showing it skulking through the dry plains of the park, searching no doubt for prey. Cropped neatly and capturing the texture and thickness of it's scales wonderfully, as well as its sharp claws in the natural lighting, a really nice shot of this amazing creature. I wouldn't get too close personally still!! :)

Quite a nice animal shot presented here! Wonder why they call it a "monitor" lizard? Your full and central composition gives us a good look at it. Exposure and sharpness are good. Nicely done!

Fred,
A great stop action picture of the Monitor Lizard standing over it's shadow as it decides where next to dart off it's tail curled under it. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

This is a nice shot of the wild life!. You have framed it well. The light and shadows, colours and the composition have worked out well. Good effort!
