Got to admit that I have never encountered the word "murmuration"! What does it mean? Your nice photo is well composed, sharp and has good exposure. Well done and good luck!

Thank you very kindly for your nice comments and rating!
Murmuration is a flock of starlings, like a murder of crows is a flock of crows. Which I hope to also catch one day to post too :)

Get what you mean now, but hope I never see the crows thing!

Does make me think of Alfred Hitchcock's "the birds". The angle of the shot of these flock of birds with colorful background is great. The clarity is great. The capture of the light is great. The image is balance and eye appealing to the viewer. Good eye and great job overall

These aerial spectacles are caused by a falcon near the edge of the flock. It turns out that the beauty of a murmuration's movements often arises purely out of defense, as the starlings strive to put distance between themselves and the predator.
Starlings and other birds have an ability known as Scale-free correlation. We all grew up being told when we see flocks of geese or ducks that there is always a leader, but they actually move collectively together. In 2010 Andrea Cavagna discovered the birds move/respond as one. When one starling moves in one direction, the others respond immediately.
This is a unique entry to this silohuette contests. Out of the box and simply fantastic.
Love the soft pink cotton candy sky with shades of blue/lilac up top.
Great capture of a species that communicates as one with no break down of misinformation like we humans.
Good luck!

This question has come to my mind many times as I have watched them overhead. It is a beautiful sight to see. I really love this piece with the pinkish sky as a backdrop. You managed to get good focus throughout. A very simple yet complicated image. Very enjoyable and well done. Great entry good luck.

The sky behind this scene is soft and the colors are lovely. The bird's in silhouette create a surprising image. Thanks for the background information. I would love to see this for real...it looks fascinating.

Thank you very much! I think the patterns are interesting to ponder - I kind of see an angel in one section, among other things :)

An interesting subject and a fine shot that gives us a bit of insight into this peculiar behavior. The colors are great and the images has a strong abstract quality. Best of luck in the contest.
