I like the impression of motion that I get from this image. Your combination of colors work very well together and the background is a little reminiscent of infrared lighting.

Very nice painting and contest entry Love the composition as the diagonal of the water leads your eye into the picture. The colors of different shades of blue harmonize well together. The top is darker and gradually becomes lighter making the little hill the focal point. Love your style. Good luck in the contest.

WHAT are you smoking? LOL

I lived in the Arctic and during breakup this is exactly what we would see as the rivers began to thaw ....in May.

I love the overlapping, it is realistic (as how I remember it). I love the greens...hmmm see you didn't use green alas the rivulet looks tinted with green.

The dirty whites are just that in real life...dirty as the river breaks. Perhaps "dirty" is not a positive word to use but the snow and ice when breaking is not sparkling clean, so please forgive me for my vocabulary.

Love the dark blue sky (indigo) again that adds a reality to the whole scene.

Yes, this is an excellent entry for the cold contest.

I particularly like your composition of this piece. In three layers the bottom one leads our eyes in, the mid portion gives visual dance and the top calms.

Really lovely, I like this quite a bit.

You see I am a retired California Correctional Peace Officer who has seen to much of the damage to individual humans, families and society at large from the use of that stuff.
