Roger,
A beautiful picture of this historic Ship now tied up in Long beach CA & "living out" her Retirement as a tourist attraction & hotel...that I too have visited. It stirred up my Memories of a voyage on her sister ship the Mauretania, returning from South Africa as the Second world War ended in May 1945. Beautiful composition framing & lighting with the added bonus of her reflections on the mirror still water between you & the ship. Taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus.

    Hello Susan

Interesting that you had previously sailed on her sister ship. I have heard of the Mauretania but know nothing of her. Delighted that you like this image and good to hear from you today. Thank you for your response and your very nice score. I like night shooting a lot. This is a late evening shot just after dark. Fun stuff.

You take care and have a nice thanksgiving.

A very nice shot. The colors are beautiful and the light on the smokestacks is fantastic. I like the way the long exposure smooths out the water. A very fine composition.

    Good Afternoon Mike

I am glad to hear from you today. Thank you for that very nice critique. The calm night with no wind or water movement allowed the longer shutter speed. She is a beautiful ship and exciting to tour. A couple of fine restaurants complement her offerings and she is an adventure to tour. I have visited on board a few times and always enjoyed the experience.

I hope all is well on your end. I am enjoying the beginning of winter here. Days are cool and clear. Life is good

    You take care

    Good Afternoon Samathasena

How nice to hear from you today. The queen is a delightful ship. Old but beautiful and she has really had an adventurous life. This was a nice night at the ocean. No wind and no water movement so I used a long shutter speed which improved the details and colors. Those exhaust funnels are visible for a long distance.

Thank you for your very nice critique. I am glad you liked this one.

    You take care now.

    Hello Linda

Good to hear from you today. I am glad you like the Queen. She is old but she is still beautiful. I have been on board a few times to eat and to explore and it is a fun adventure. She has had a great life.

This night at the ocean was great. No wind and no water movement allowed for a slow shutter opening which picked up a lot of detail and the great colors you see. The smoke stacks can be seen for miles away.

    Fun stuff

You take care now. Thanks again for your very nice critique. I appreciate it.

Being a Brit I am well familiar with QM1 and her relations! In fact I visited her in early October of this year!! Your very beautiful image benefits from a fine classical composition. It is also well exposed and sharp. A great photo!

    Good Morning Nikman

Thank you for that very nice critique. She is a beautiful ship with a rich history. I have visited her a few times and it is an exciting adventure. This night was a cool winter evening with no winds and no water movement. It allowed for a long shutter time and I am pleased also with the results. I am delighted that you like this image. I thank you for your very nice comments and the fine score. I don't get many of those. Nice

You have a good day now and take care.

Beautiful sight. I like that this is taken at sunset. The lights on the ship are glowing with great color. And the water reflects the sunset with soft colors. I love that. Great work.

    Hello Cathy

This is actually a little later than sunset. It is early evening and there is no wind and no water movement. It allowed for a very long open shutter time which in turn produced the rich colors.

This is a beautiful ship with a rich history If you have never read of her exploits I invite you to go to Google and look her up. She is very old but still very beautiful. And a delight to visit for dinner or a tour or a night on board.

Thank you very much for your very nice comments and the very nice score. I do appreciate it.

Thanks for those interest artists notes and your stunning capture of the Queen Mary. I like that your image tells a story. A good low perspective aiding in your composition. So beautiful are the reflections on the water creating a nice movement in your scene. Your lighting, clarity, contrast, and depth of field are excellent. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing.

She is old but still beautiful and each time I read of her history it is incredible. I have toured her multiple times and had breakfast on board as well as dinner. Good food and a delight to visit.
