Deborah,
A beautiful close up of this beep mauve Scabious flower with it's deeper coloured petals than the flowers I find growing wild in Ireland, I think they are really beautiful. Beautiful composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques & sharp focus allowing us to see the smallest details of this beautiful flower.

They grow wild by you Susan??? Oh how lucky you are. Do you ever see the all white or pink ones?? Do appreciate you checking out my new piece and thank you for the wonderful review you've given it. I really like that you can see the beauty in this interesting little blossom!

excellent focus, details and light handling

but, the fact that the lower pedals are cut off takes from the initial impact and rate

thanks for sharing

The delicate stamens do indeed look like the straight pins stuck in my pincushion. I love the whole look of the flower and wish I could grow them.

So very neat looking at this stage, Deb. Great job with the perfect angle to show off that pin cushion look. Beautiful lighting and color make this excellent close-up pop for a wow of an initial impact. Another excellent addition to your botanical collection.

Have a very Happy and blessed Thanksgiving, my dear friend. Ed.

Another beautiful photo of this scabiosa. I love the various tones of color in this one, the beautiful lavender and the rose colored pin cushions with the highlights of yellow. Focus, clarity and detail are all very good. The lighting perfect and I only wish the bottom tips of the petals were in this but sometimes that just can't be helped. A gorgeous posting and always a pleasure to view.

Oh no Marsha. It was MY fault....lol Even I don't always pay attention well enough when photographing the flowers. I was so intent on getting the 'pincushion' center correctly (those translucent stamens are a nightmare) that I neglected to make sure ALL the surrounding petals were in the frame. Do appreciate you having a look and giving my new piece such a fine review despite that. Thank you! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I have read that Winnie the Pooh loves Honeysuckle. Just saying.

As you said, not as beautiful as some. But, there is a definite beauty in the simplicity of the blossom. Coming out like a pin cushion, with the soft petals. It is very nice. Well done, my dear friend.

LOL The bears around here are more interested in my bird feeders Paul. I always have to wait until I'm sure they're asleep for the winter before I can hang them out.....poor birds have to be patient. So, yes....not one of my prettiest flowers. I think of it as 'interesting' lol Thank you so much for checking it out and giving it such a nice review...and have a very Happy Thanksgiving.
