You have captured so well the center of this lovely pink dogwood blossom, and I agree that looking at it is candy for the eye when on a cold winter's day. I would call it more pink than red, but the color is anyway very delicate. The background has lovely colors as well, and with the softness the bloom is standing out from it in an excellent way.
Your photo is sharp showing clear and well defined details both in the petals and the center, and also the exposure is very good.
The square format you have cropped the photo into is perfect together with the centered position of the flower within the frame. A truly lovely and well taken macro shot, and with a very good DOF. I wish you luck with the contest.

This flower seems to be calling out to us "look at me, I'm beautiful" and so she is.
The details you caught on the petals are sharp in this thumbnail, the stamens also add a punch as they follow the law of similarities.
Cropped tightly with enough marginal space to breathe easy when viewing.
A brilliant and delightful macro to see in the dead of winter for those living in the northern hemisphere.
Frankly, this upload is a gift.
