a wonderful composition and capture Deborah with an outstanding sharp focus on the open flower against a blurred green background;
it looks like a family of 12 children following their mom or dad blown by the right coming wind; very interesting notes as usual; and I was glad to learn that the flower and leaves are able to heal your headache provoked by my previous comments and those of Annie about your cosmos flower; LOL;

    LOL. Oh you silly boy SG! I am MUCH tougher than that. Seriously though, I rarely have issues w/ uploads here on FAR but that COSMOS piece looks nothing here like it does on MY system. Gave up trying to figure out what the problem was. You are just a doll for giving this piece here such a fine review AND a gold star. I hope you didn't feel you had to SG but want you to know I do really appreciate it...and NEVER hard feelings w/ either you or AV- OK??

    many thanks deborah for your understanding;
    I checked your pic again on a large, high resolution screen and I'm pretty sure that my hypothesis was accurate: there is a narrow diagoanal line which is sharp: meaning that it was taken from a short distance with a large aperture; I take often macro shots and it is known that the dof can be very narrow, a fews milimeters only;
    can you find the data of the diaphragm used ?

    I can Fred...and will. Am just headed out to lug in firewood though. Will get you the specs later on this afternoon but I still believe the upload was an issue. That image in my photo program looks much different than the FAR view.

    ...but you are just a doll for having another look. Thank you.

    if you can remember the lens used and the distance.....
reply by the author on 23-Jan-2018
    Lens is easy. I have just one. A standard 14-42mm Zuiko lens on my Olympus Camera. (OM-D) A wonderful camera I understand precisely. As for distance...I stood in the bed....probably not more than a couple of feet from this bunch of blossoms.

This is a well executed photo. I love the color scheme. I almost feel like this is the King and his royal court. A truly lovely photo. Thank you so much for sharing.

    I DO grow a flower called 'The King' Monica and it IS purple but it's not this ASTER. LOL Regardless, I do appreciate you checking THIS one out and thank you for giving it such a lovely review.

Such beautiful vibrant colors! Asters are a favorite! I love your selective focus leading the eye to the open flower, well exposed, background is perfect, composition really showcases the beauty of the asters, well thought out, well presented!

    It is always so nice Pat when the reviewer realizes an image has been well considered. Thank you so much for that....AND for the very fine review you've given my pretty ASTERS. One of my favorite Autumnal flowers too btw.

What a beautiful photo of your asters, especially the one in the left hand corner just looking like it's blowing in the wind. I love all the smaller buds you included in this shot.
The difference in color makes this more appealing and gives it a beautiful and magical look to your flowers. OMG, I think I just had an epiphany. Was your title from Star Wars...or
From Hog warts?
Like in Harry Potter?
I love it so much and it captured my attention immediately. Beautiful photo
Deborah and as usual fantastic artist notes. But the color of these shades is an incredible
Magenta that I just love!

    LOL...you are a nut Marsha. My title actually comes from the common name these blossoms are given. Most people sadly are not interested in learning the botanical names so common names for flowers pop up all the time. Crazy huh....I mean whatt's so difficult about the word ASTERS?? Anyway, laughed like hell at your Star wars, Harry Potter epiphany...lol My absolutely favorite Autumnal flower and so pleased you like it. Thank you for the marvelous...and FUN review...lol

    You're welcome Deborah! And yes, sometimes I guess I am a nut but that's the first thing I thought of when I read your title...I loved it so much!
    Loved the flowers too!

The violet ones look like those little prickly gumballs that fall from tree. The big purple one looks like it's going to get blown away. LOL. Nice colors. Good contrast of the greenery and the blooms. Like the gradual focus to blurriness if that makes sense. Got some good lighting as well. Got a good green thumb and a great knack for photography. Take care and stay warm. btw, still loving my calendar.

Yeah,Deb! : D
'...'Starworts' is another Awesome looking photo that you've presented us with,my friend!
The coloration throughout the scene is strikingly attractive and those blossoms have the interestingly 'Alien' type of look that I always enjoy seeing!
Hey! It's another really 'Good Show'! : )

    awww Sean- you are very generous. Thank you so much. Love your 'Alien' bit.....YOU would love seeing the entire bed of all these 'alien looking' guys I bet. I have these in a bed right out front. They are the only flowers left by the end of Autumn and I always want to enjoy them for as long as I can. Anyway, got a 'Good Show' from you and THAT always makes me smile (well, and the gold star does too I have to admit...lol) Thank you for ALL of it. Very pleased here this morning!

The clarity in this is awesome. I like the way you handled the green background. I guess those gorgeous purple petals on the open one will eventually grow on the unopened ones. Nice composition and framing. Great clarity. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

    You're right Pam. Every single one of the budded ASTERS eventually look like the large purple one. Gorgeous en mass. Thank you so much for the really fine review. I do appreciate it.
