I have never seen one of these in person so I appreciate the wonderfully close view that you captured. I think this guy is gorgeous and that red eye is so sharp with nice light. The shallow depth is lovely and I like how much detail can be seen in the feathers and legs.

Superb eye clarity drawing You into your scene. Your spot on sharp focus and good light handling revealing excellent details and colors on this Heron. Good camera techniques and I love the expression captured on this Heron's face. This is very nice work and thanks for sharing.

a lovely capture of the black crowned night heron,
the head turned so we get a close up of the great red eye, sharp focus and clarity on the plumage, nice white balance control, the bird really pops against the back ground. lovely.

Weird looking bird. Look at those huge feet. Wow. Wonder why it needs feet that big. Maybe for grasping prey. The head looks a lot like a scrub jay. But that is where any remote similarity ends. Nice composition and framing. Good sharp focus. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

Got to love this Heron's pose.. so cute and enquiring... thanks for sharing Barbara. Fabulous shot and the clarity and focus are perfect. Brings out his lovely white feathers and his black head and beak. Check out his eye.. Pinned on your camera for sure. He is certainly interested on what's going on behind him. Love how far birds can turn their heads.. . The blurred background of shrubs works well to contrast his crisp white body.. thanks for sharing. cheers mel
