This is an excellently composed piece.

The camera settings show the feathers in excellent detail.

The DOF captures all the necessary elements of the bird and just enough of the chicks.

Color and contrast are well within acceptable limits.

Great story telling in this one.

A beautiful bird in a very fine setting. I like the colors and the well captured action of preening. The composition is nice although I might consider cropping off a bit of the right side. Good luck in the contest.
