Definitely a far cry from the snow. I almost said gloom, too. But, I love shooting in the winter. Wow. Such colors. And the blue in that sky. I love blue skies. Something there just brightens my mood. Lovely piece. Needed it today. thank you.

So do I Paul...a whole lot actually. The winter offers such a complete change in perspective behind my camera lens....but every Feb. I start to whine a bit...lol I try not to let THAT go on too long though b/c I do really appreciate what I have here. You are just the best for being so generous w/ your review and rating here. Thank you so much dear Paul. I appreciate you too!

Hi Deborah, what a delightful garden of joy you have created. Love your photo with all its beauty and colour . Fantastic exposure and the lighting is perfect.. I am making my way along your garden pathway, checking out the trees and shrubs along the journey. What a magical array of colour, shape, texture and tone. The flower heads of cream on their stately stems and the small red flowers on the leafy greens in the foreground create a beautiful border at the front of your garden. The natural walkway that runs through the centre, allows the eye to cast beyond into the superb stretch of luscious green grass boasting its beautifully shaped shrubs and tasteful rockeries.. Stunning.. I Love the backdrop of tall trees of varying leaf shapes and textures. A superb grouping of border trees that serve purpose and value in your garden. All the splashes of colour , complimented by the greenery , add interest and appeal . I couldn't begin to imagine having this delightful setting snowed over every winter.. The plants and flowers must obviously tolerate these conditions, remain dormant in winter and burst into bloom as the weather warms up. Love the clematis and CIMICIFUGA you mention in your notes. What a lovely paradise that surrounds you Deborah. A pure joy to dwell in and just as much joy to review. thanks for sharing a part of your homely inviting garden. cheers mel

Hi, Deb. The woodshed bed. What does that mean? Is that where you keep your gardening tools and supplies? I think you also have deer or is that somebody else? Lots of green in this piece. I can see how spectacular this view would be when everything blooms. I hope I see a photo from you then. Nice composition and framing. Focus is OK but not great. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

It is the garden bed I built immediately in front of the woodshed Pam. I am standing in it in this image and photographing across my road at some of the other beds. Thank you for having a look. I do appreciate it. Looks crisp to me btw but appreciate your thoughts.

Taken from the original Francoise it's "Verde Mont". The shade of green we take for granted in the NEK, I believe, does not exist anywhere else in New England - seriously.

I have formulated a theorem - There is a direct link between the number, size and placement of flower gardens to the desire of the landowner to keep the aggregate square footage of lawn needing mowing to an absolute minimum.

Buck up little buckaroo, winter will soon be over and then it will be "MUD SEASON"!

Well composed shot of the back 40'.

I see a verdant, lush and robust mantel of green interspersed with the bright bold colors of flora exotica. Arranged and planted in such a way in order to make the best use of each plants strengths and characteristics.

This is a quiet and understated view of the Kingdom of Deb. It is definitely my kind of garden ... OMP

LOL...I like your theorem OMP....but more gardens mean more weeds.....sigh....an unholy vicious cycle. Yet, some of my earliest garden beds do me a huge favor and barely grow weeds anymore! YIPEEEEEE! As for MUD SEASON - do you know I have grown to look forward to the muddy mess and treacherous drive up and down my road b/c I know THIS is what comes next. So little buckaroo (love that btw OMP- you made me smile hugely w/ that one) thanks you generously for having a look at the Kingdom of Deb and giving it such a wonderful review. You are a PEACH!!

"Mud Season", 2 words that when spoken, whispered or written on a note that has such a profound effect on people. Chores under way cease, conversations abruptly end so that hangers on can hear the latest tale of Mud Season. OMP

LOL YOU are good for my soul OMP! No-one understands 'mud season' until they've lived through it. YOU have...and speak of it w/ the reverence it deserves. ....and you made me laugh out loud w/ this! Thank you. Mud will be awhile sill around here but man are the icicles dripping today....an early indication of what fun is to come...lol

Stunning! You are living in a botanical garden and what could better than that. Are those Hollyhocks I see in the foreground? Beautiful capture, Deb, with brilliant color, great DOF, fine detail throughout. A pleasure to view and to anticipate a few months forward. Great notes too. Ed.

Yes they are Ed. Good eye! I've planted some of my favorites in Bed #1 (aka- the 'Shed Bed') so I could enjoy them when I'm working on the next season's wood stacking. Thank you so much for checking this one out and I do really appreciate the lovely review you've given it.

I am sick and tired of winter myself. I have posted nothing but Florida pictures since I got back and even though I saw a pair of swans circle the lake today, I fear it may be some time before you see any Michigan shots. A very pleasant scene with rich saturated summer colors.

Very peaceful piece. The beautiful bright green and the pretty red flowers and purple flowers add just the right amount of color. The little dirt path makes me want to go find a dirt road to walk on. Just perfect. Would love to be right in the middle of the pic relaxing.

Brand new member Jennifer, yes?? I don't believe I've seen you at the end of a review yet. Welcome to the group. The dirt 'path' is actually my driveway...lol Dirt roads everywhere around here. Do appreciate you checking out my new piece...thank you. I AM curious however what you see in this image that you think I could do to improve it?? It is honestly helpful when you make a deduction to say why you are doing so. We don't always see our own work as objectively as we'd like so it helps to include that info.
