The poor thing looks bogged down with all those water droplets. The top leaf has folded under the weight to reveal some nice color in the center. The petal design stands out nicely and the lighting is attractive.

Hi Pat. Iris, especially bearded Iris, are a favorite subject of mine. I also enjoy trying to capture water drops on any surface. So of course this image caught my attention. You have done a goo job of getting this shot. The color is spot on and the drops are well focused. There is some dropoff in the focus on the stem but it can be lived with. I fond the white opening bud(?) in the top of the picture very distracting and would consider trying to clone it out. The color in the flower is so delicate that this stands out and pulls my eye away. You could also consider doing some vignette on the image just to keep the focus on the flower. Nice shot.

Thank you so very much! I appreciate your thoughts, I agree now that you mention it, the white bud will be removed!

Pat,
A wonderful picture of this wild Blue Iris the sunshine glowing through it's petals from behind & the raindrops like liquid Diamonds sparking in the light. The blurred blade like foliage making the perfect contrasting back drop to the flower. Artistic composition, framing & lighting taken with superb camera techniques& sharp focus.

Its good how raindrops can make a diffence to a photo, this alone would have made a nice colorfull photo, but the droplets add a nice touch in this, makes a good contrast with the greenery..Brian

what a stunning capture alaskapat.. such clarity and excellent exposure. The wild iris certainly deserves a cheer. the colour is vibrant and must look amazing scattered around the landscapes posing in all its glory. Your angle of capture is perfect. shows off its stunning markings of a deeper purple on he funnel . The slightly fluted petals with the occasional droplets of water look so refreshing against the dark green foliage in the background. a perfect contrast to draw they eye into the centre of the flower.. . with those striking vertical lines that fade off into the surrounding outer petal. such excellent exposure and lighting. I can see the veins in the petals well , making them really look so lifelike.. as if I could reach out and touch them.. I like the slightly blurred effect on the top left and right side of the photo. helps the iris pop... .. well balanced and eye catching without doubt. thanks for sharing this little beauty of nature. . a joy to review. cheers mel

This is a great photo of an Iris. They are such terrific flowers as the color purple looks stunning against the green grassy background. The water droplets were a nice touch and are sharply focused. Nice depth of field, too.

I see the yellow hiding at the top flower. But, there not seem to be as much yellow in the wild iris as there is in the domestic one. Nice composition and framing as usual. Great sharpness as usual. Thank you for sharing and best of luck with this image

The focus is so dead on this iris showing veins & droplets of rain. Your dof is rendered nicely to show background but only in soft whispers. The colours are natural , unpretentious and this upload is "pretty as a picture".

We have done a lot of that in our part of the UK recently! Your nice flower image benefits from having a good composition, it's sharp and well exposed. Nicely done!
