Hi Deborah thanks for sharing this little stunner in all its glory boasting its amazing vibrant colours for us to enjoy. fabulous angle used to capture those tiny florets of bright yellow hues that dance in the centre of the pretty painted daisy. What bee wouldn't like to go exploring for pollen in there... The focus on these little yellow balls of bliss is perfect and the angle used to capture the flower is excellent .. showing the rich pink formation of the petals as they form a dainty skirt around the florets.. Love that one petal pointing off to the left of the picture. I think it has something important to say.. the whitish ring that borders the cluster of tiny disc petals almost looks like its aura. and it appears to glow.. very eye catching and adds even more appeal to the painted daisy.. The exposure is brilliant and shows up the veins in each of the petals nicely. Beautiful choice of background showing the green leaves in a blurred form so as not to distract from the vivacious flower, but creating a pleasant contrast . The background really makes the daisy pop.. and saturate my eye ball.
Thanks for sharing your awesome bloom that no doubt has much value in that lovely garden of yours Deborah.. An absolute joy to review more of your blooming beauties..

You are spot on right Melyuki....the bees adore these bright pink and yellow guys! Told someone else that I remembered laughing at that little petal on the left when I took this photo and that I was sure it was giving the finger to all the wild white Daisies that grow outside my garden beds in the summer.....lol I always give my flowers a 'personality' you see. I have just oodles of the wild white ones growing everywhere during the summer Neil. These hot pink ones in my gardens though look down their noses on all the white ones...lol Thank you so much for checking this guy out. Always happy to find YOU at the end of a review.

awww.....such a lovely review Ed. Thank you. I have the wild white ones all over my place in the summer- TONS of them....but these pink ones I grow in my gardens are pretty special......they laugh at the wild white ones...lol

The seeds DO come from the yellow center Linda but after a couple of years of growing in a specific place they are not as reliable. I've collected them but germination rates are fairly low. Do appreciate your lovely review and so pleased you enjoyed the notes. Thank you.

I know I save my basil plant seeds after I pick the leaves. and I never have to buy another plant. I'll look for some daisies with the yellow centers and save the seeds.

Right: there are 32913 asteracae species followed by 26567 orchid species (in 2011 very likely more than 27000 now);

LOL Very good Fred. The ORCHID people like to argue that their family is the largest but your numbers are exactly right.....ASTERACEAE wins hands down! Thank you so much for checking out my new flower and just love your flower knowledge!

Serious(!) orchid people will never claim that their family is the largest!
What I can claim:
-there are still hundreds to be discovered; (I discovered one 40 Years ago in Borneo)
-orchids are more beautiful and much more interesting in what concern their growing conditions: épiphytes, lithophytes, terrestrial......

Well YOU are the only ORCHID guy I know. They (ORCHIDS) don't even think about growing where I live so I don't pay much attention to them. Do really enjoy your images and notes of them though.....learned a lot about them from you.

Oh I know you can grow them inside.....I was talking about in my gardens. I have so many houseplants now it takes me an hour to water everything. Plus, ORCHIDS how would they do w/ wood heat? My wood stove cooks for almost 8 months a year. Some flowers don't do well w/ wood heat. .....and I would kill for a greenhouse...lol

you just need to Watch to have enough humidity around;
wood stove produces CO2 and this is very beneficial for orchid growth!
but if our stove produces the toxic CO, it will kill the orchid very fast: an excellent warning before it kills; you! lol
some species like dendrobium are grown in many Thai houses in order to detect gas leaks...

Better than a canary Fred. The problem w/ my wood heat though is the dramatic changes in temp. in my house. It's nothing to get up in the morning and have it in the 50's in here.....brrrrrrr

definitely Phalaenopsis or Paphiopedilum hybrids: very showy, availaible anywhere, easy to grow and most important don't need sunlight: just water with non calcarous water;

This one is a beauty! That hot pink is just that...hot! The saturation is high...making it almost neon. But your light and shadows take turns pulling in the detail in those petals. Your center is an excellent contrast in textures and a bit calmer color of yellow. You really must control saturation there is order to see your excellent detail. I think that faint ring of lavender around the center is my favorite part of the flower. It is being shy...but still holding it's place in this flower.. Excellent job capturing that!!
Your dof is perfect and your framing leaves room for just that...to mat and frame this one in order to hang it in a flower exhibition of Deborah Gardens. Beautiful ... I hope you enter some contests!

Oh that pink is for real Becky. Believe me....did not saturate this one at all! I only have about a dozen of these but when they are in bloom I can see that hot pink no matter where I am in my gardens. They are stunning. I may add more this season. As for my files of flower images....OMG I have THOUSANDS! It's how I've honed my photography skills.....photographing EVERY flower at EVERY stage....in EVERY light. I have images I haven't really done anything w/ yet too....but I am diligent about using descriptive labels of all kinds so I can find anything. Anyway, you are just a doll for doing up such a thorough review for this guy and sharing a gold star w/ it as well. Thank you so much. Made my morning here!
