Wow! This is a great peace of art. The technique sounds like fun. I want to try it in my work. You are very talented and creative. I like the owl, and the colors are nice, Also the tree branch goes in angle, perfect composition. Love it!!!

Thanks so much, Lucas. This technique makes really fine details a little tough. I think on my next piece I am going to strategically place the tissue paper only wher I want texture such as ocean, mountains, tree trunks and branches, etc.

This is nice in that you accomplished what you set out to do there is a lot of texture maybe too much . I love how the tree really stands out and I see how the bird has texture as well but I would have just made the background a nice soft haze so the Owl and tree would have stood out more. As it is now the background and main subjects are competing for attention .

Thank you. This was an experiment in painting over crumpled tissue paper. I am going to try it again but with less paper.

I really enjoy the textures in this piece, I like how the feathers have a different textures than the tree, than the leaves than the ground. Very nice piece, very well done.

Wow. This definitely has a tactile texture to it. I am not familiar with 'Modpoge' but it sure did the trick. The texture reminds me of T-111 plywood. You would get much the same effect by painting directly on the wood. A great entry for the contest Linda. Best of the best ~ Steve

Thanks so much. Modpodge is the paste you use in decoupage projects and you can paint on top of it.

The techniques worked really well as far as texture goes! This piece is full of lovely textures and I like the color combinations. I especially like the way you incorporated the tree colors into the owl's feathers. The highlights and color blending is wonderful :)

I don't know that I am ideal to rate this as I am not familiar with the style. Is the owl looking over his shoulder so to speak? That is his back I am looking at? The tree, the owl's face and the background work for me, but the body needs clarity and some definition and contouring somehow. Much smaller strokes to detail the feathering for one thing, and some decision as to where the light is coming from.... Daphne Oberon

Yes the owl is looking over its back. Thank you very much. I will see what I can do.

My sense is the light is from the right, shining against the tree, so the owl could be just a touch lighter on that side. You could paint over the light areas JUST A LITTLE an the viewer's left side toward the tree... The tail feathers fan out differently than the wings and body, like a hawk's tail would -- the opposite of how you have this; check some photos... Good luck, but above all, have fun! Daphne Oberon

Cool,Linda!
I honestly didn't understand just what this 'tactile' contest was about but I'm very much enjoying the pleasantly eerie look of this big black bird whose picture you've presented us with!
I realize that it represents an Owl but it makes me think of the Banshee! : )

Oh...that is so cool. I assumed that tactile meant touchable so I went for texture in this experiment.
