Thank you Charlotte, for today thanks in great part to your thorough documentation, I have learned more about this amazing creature than I ever thought I would.

The background bokeh really puts the two birds up front and personal like.

This take has amazing color, positioning, contrast and detail.

This is an excellent entry for this contest, good luck ... Bob

What a great photograph. The clarity is sharp and the colors are well rendered.

The composition is well balanced thanks to good framing.

The photo tells a fascinating story and shows the birds naturally.

Very nicely done. Bravo.

Just love your puffins, Charlotte. I waited, to give it what it deserves. Puffins as you know are magnificent birds as you have shown. You have done a fine job capturing them in their quest to feed their young. You have said it all. Very nice. Ray

Charlotte,
A beautiful picture of this pair of Puffins with beakfuls of Sand eels standing on that shit covered rock before they return to their nest to feed their chicks/Pufflings. The blurred grey/ blue sky /sea makes a beautiful background .
Beautiful composition framing and lighting taken with superb camera techniques and sharp focus.

Ha ha yes, but that rock was quite clean compared to many! It?s the very strong smell of a bird colony that never gets shown on photos!

    Charlotte,
It reminded me of my visit to the Great Saltee Island off Co. Wexford. You have to get off the ferry & onto an inflatable to get ashore. I wore Wellington boots as we had to jump off that into the shallows. Then put on my shoes to go up onto the island to see the Puffins, Razorbills etc. As I have had two knee replacements I was unable to get to see the Gannets on the far side of the Island.

Oh so you do get them in Ireland, I did wonder.
Gosh that trip sounds a lot more tricky than the Farne Islands trip, at least the boats takes us right up to the jetty! I'm so pleased you've seen them too, especially with your knowledge of birds, it's such an amazing experience - whenever friends came to visit me in Northumberland I always insisted they came between May and July so that they could see the puffins - it was always a perfect excuse for me to go again! Lol Unfortunately the NT island where you get off the boat has been closed for the last couple of years because of bird flu - I'm vey pleased they're doing their best to keep them protected though.

    Charlotte,
When I was 14 my mother gave me a pair of Binoculars & to "Pay back" for them I had to keep a Diary of all the birds I saw around our Farm in Rishangles & if I didn't know the name I had to look them up in my Bird Book. It has been a life long interest.
Yesterday I met a lady with a son who has Down syndrome...his name was Ben!

Susan, what a wonderful way your mother had to encourage you to learn about the birds you viewed! Unfortunately I don't think parents invest as much effort or discipline in their children today as they did in our time! It was my father who nurtured my interest in wildlife, but I definitely wasn't as good a student as you were!
What an amazing coincidence that you met someone with another Ben! What sort of age was he?

I think the Ben I met yesterday was in his early 30s.

Thank you So much Mary, for your wonderful review and high rating!
I had tried so long to capture one with his beak full and it was only on my very last trip to the islands that I finally had the opportunity, needless to say I took loads of shots! Lol
