I really like the simplicity of this photo and also the strong distinctions between dark and light. I also like the textures you have added and how well the bird is standing out from the background.
The photo is sharp with clear and well defined details, but the bird is probably a tad under exposed.
The format you have cropped the photo into works well, and the bird has got a fine placement within the frame. I think this is an all together lovely and well taken Soulfeeder, and I wish you luck with the contest.

This is a good looking B&w image you have posted.
It is very well framed with fine emphasis on the head and eye.
The capture is bright with fine contrast and excellent white balance control.
Exposure and sharpness are excellent.
