I don't know if it it's true but her family claimed to be descendants from a Mayan royalty family. For sure she has the classical Mayan look and her family name goes way back. She is the granddaughter of the mayor of one of the not so poor Mayan communities.
It was a full portrait but according to the contest rules there isn't any background permitted. So I cropped it to the recent picture. I could have cloned the sand in her face and the scratch beside her eye but I think these little things add some more reality.
