This picture was taken in our front yard thorough or last Locust invasion.

-I know Surmed, they can't mess with a Cobra but how you like these guys as next door neighbors? -lol-

A locust is a large GRASSHOPPER.
About a dozen species have evolved this capacity to change their habits and appearance. When populations are sparse, the individuals live separate lives like other grasshoppers. But when their numbers increase they form mobs which migrate. Under crowded conditions, a solitary Nymph will mature into a gregarious [migratory] adult, with longer wings, shorter legs, and other identifiable characteristics. As more and more of the gregarious types appear, characterized by their restless movement, migratory swarms build up. Once started, a locust plague may last for several years. The swarms eventually die out and scatter, leaving only the solitary Grasshopper.
The most famous species [the Desert Locust, Schistocerca gregaria,] was mentioned in the Old Testament and even earlier.

I saturated the background since it was to busy and taken under very difficult light conditions.
