Pointe Shoes [toe shoes] are special ballet shoes enabling the dancer to perform pointe work, dancing on their toes for extended periods of time. They were developed from the desire to appear weightless. Professional dancers were these shoes out quickly. A new pair may a worn through a single performance.

The photo of a ballerina and a scan of an older drawing were merged, converted to sepia and treaded with different filters. I used Photo shop and Digital image suite.
