Butterfly from Screen and Condensation
Fantasy Butterfly

This butterfly was created from a picture of the back door screen and condensation within a bottle. The outer and inner edgings of the wing are condensation, as are the eyes and antennae. The rest of the wing is door screen.
To create this I traced the parts that I needed, then copied and pasted them to build the butterfly. I only had to trace one wing from the screen and one from the condensation ,since I could copy them and flip them to make the right sided wings.
To make the designs on the wing I first used saturation to bring out hidden colors within the screen. I then placed the screened wing under the glowing edges filter and smoothed it When I saw a result I liked it became part of the design of the wing.
The eyes and antennae were the result of placing the condensation image in glowing edges. It created the gold look. All I had to do then was trace the shape, paste and place.
The body and head is screen with added coloring placed in the crackled egg filter and two shades of blue.
The inner and outer edgings of the wing, first had the same appearance as the antennae and eyes so I softened the color in levels and it revealed a nice lacy look. When I applied them on the outer wing I liked them so much I shrank them and applied them in the inner wing as well.
The teal coloring inside the inner heart shapes were created by shrinking the screen wing and placing two of them inside each edging. I then added color and made the top screen transparent so you could see the design beneath yet still have a change of color.
Background: digital transparent painting with smudging
On creating the look everything was experimental. It was all on finding the right look.
Hope I didn't bore you with all of this
Please Enjoy,
