The Bhagavad Gita (Song of God), also more simply known as Gita, is an ancient sacred Hindu scripture, through its philosophies and insights is intended to reach beyond the scope of religion and to humanity as a whole. It is at times referred to as the "manual for mankind" and has been highly praised by not only prominent modern day Indians but also great philosophers and thinkers like Aldous Huxley, Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Carl Jung and Herman Hesse. It is considered among the most important texts in the history of literature and philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita comprises exactly 700 verses.. The teacher of the Bhagavad Gita is Lord Krishna, who is revered by Hindus as a manifestation of God(Parabrahman)himself, and is referred to within as Bhagavan, the Divine One.

CH 5 verse 18
The humble sages by virtue of true knowledge see with equal vision a learned scholar, a cow, an elephant, a dog, and a butcher.
ch 13, verse 29
One who sees the Supersoul equally present every where, in every living being, does not degrade himself by his mind. Thus he approaches the transcendental destination.
Theme: Respect for all.
When you look at this painting there are shapes, and shapes within shapes. Some shapes connect to others gently and gracefully; some seem to engage in a struggle with their surroundings. I look at the possibilities for compositions that are created by the shapes and colors and their relationships to each other. This, I feel sums up life in general.
My interpretation of the 'Paramatma' (The Supreme Soul) at the centre is a case in point. I have used colour to express the heat and light, as well as the energy of the earth.
As you can see the figures are semi-representational. The butcher is shown as a mask. Female in an angelic form. I have shown the light emanating from the Supreme Soul entering all these Beings I have also taken the liberty of adding a fish, an Angel (a female form) and a bird to represent the main living beings in whom the Supreme Being resides
Rather than recreating a painting on a canvas in an obvious realistic way, I have tried to aim to express its essence in a abstract way. I hope that this would capture the imagination of the viewer. The more you look at it, the more you will like it. It is sure to grow on you.
I did this painting in Y2008 and had forgotten about it. FAR community of artists has given me a wake up call to my painting talents!
Enjoy!
