The Waxing Gibbous Moon it the phase between the Third Quarter [Half Moon] and the Full Moon. It means the moon id more than half with increasing sun light portions. The picture was taken just past half moon; the portion of sunlight only slightly increased. The photo was taken last September in southern Mexico.
