I live near a public fishing lake. There is a road that goes all around it. I make that drive every day looking for something to photograph! I was looking for a butterfly, and found several. I was shooting the Eastern tiger swallowtail and this ugly fellow landed on the guardrail right in front of me! It is called a Robber fly and he is a predator. He eats insects and is bad news for them. He moved around an gave me several angles to shoot! I was shooting from my open car window! I have found by staying in the car, creatures do not seem to be as threatened and will not fly as quickly as when you are on foot! I have to get out and walk some of the time but about 80% of the time I shoot from the open car window!
I am using an Olympus E3 camera with a 70-300mm lens ISO 400 750/sec f8
