This is the closest I have gotten to this bird without him flying! He was sitting on a rail on a fishing dock. I was shooting some from the car but he was a bit far so I got out. I expected him to fly but he did not. I walked down the ramp shooting every step. I just knew he was going to fly but he just sat there! I kept moving closer and closer until I got so close I could not see all of him in the lens. I moved one more time after this and he flew making his loud raspy noise. I am sure he was irritated with me as he seemed to like his perch! I am using an Olympus E3 camera ISO 400 with a 70-300mm lens 1000/sec f9.5
