Update: well kiddies memphis in may starts may 1st..that means 50plus top bands will be playing for 3 days which ends with nerry lee lewis getting on the stage singing "great balls of fire". Bless his soul..over 80 snd the man still jams on the piano..big things for folks around here and awesome weekend for me since i am a taxi driver...wink.

Original post: Lets face it Memphis is the gateway to south as well in the middle of blues country. Most of your great artist of blues are from the mississippi delta along highway 61 (freedom highway) south of memphis. The music as well as the city has had an impact through out the world. Other than Elvis, or BB King, you have other greats from this region like.. Tina Turner, Billy Gibson (zz Top) Issac Hayes to name only a few. Betcha didnt know Morgan Freeman(actor) is from and still live in Holly Springs Ms 40 miles south. so much talent in an area where 3 states meet alongside the mississippi river. I dedicate this peice to all those great artist (known or unknown) how play there on Beale street every night entertaining crowds. If you never been there..come and party with us.
