This is a Black Rat Snake! It is a very beneficial snake. They live on mice and rats. They kill by constriction. They are not poison. You can see the round pupil in his eye, that is one sure way to tell if he is a non poison snake.
I was driving down an old country road and found this guy stretched out on the road. He was either crossing and stopped when he saw me or he was soaking up the heat. Either way I just drove up beside him and shot through the open window.
I am using an Olympus E3 Camera ISO 400 with a 70/300mm lens 500/sec f8
