Masks are usually worn to disguise ones identity by hiding the face. They are used for ceremonial and practical purpose. Some of them are worn for protection others for performances and entertainment. Trough masks are sometimes used in criminal activities most the time the practical purpose is harmless as the here shown Carnivals Mask. This modern mask is based on classical Venetian masks, but wile Venetian mask usually have Holes for the eyes, these eyes were painted. The mask is partly positioned above the face. The Hidden Identity sees thorough the mouth. The lower part of the face is covered by the fabric of the costume. A not easy test for this Hidden Identity but it gives him about a foot more height.
The picture is entirely painted on blank digital canvas; but I used several photos as reference. The face on the mask seemed uneven to me. The painted eyes and the painted cheeks were not alike each other, the mouth slightly crocked and different on the corners. The mask may was battered by use at the time I saw it; but I believe it was just painted this way. .
