Law of the jungle
[haiku by June Sargent at FanStory]
I dreamed of days gone by. I was about 15 years younger, a Jaguar in its best age, hunting in the Central American Jungle. It was beautiful. There were some people living in that jungle, but we did not bother each other. Then the dream turned to an alp. People came and big machinery. They took the trees. They build a city, mainly for tourists, not for the native people. We tried to flee. That was when I woke up. I was in that little zoo. The big loud city is all around. People are looking at me, but I remember. They captured me, and I was told I was lucky because I was not killed. Lucky? Was I? The place is so small, no room to run, no place to hide. I am getting old. I am tired. I have not much time left, but if June is right there is a change for my children who was smarter then I an were not caught by man. Even man seems getting smarter lately...at least some of them....
The pictures of nature were taken in southern Mexico, in an area what was once set aside as a future nature reservation for several endangered marine and land species. It got recently sold to private developers. The story of the Jaguar is basically true. He lives in a tourist attraction near the area.
