Mixed Media Photograph of the Month Contest Entry
Update; May/21/23
I first posted this in Aug of 2012. Most of the artists and photographers I knew then are no longer at FAR. There are only 3 people here now that reviewed this in the past. They are Sesha, MKFlood and Jeusel. The kids in here were playing on one of those huge inflatable slides. The girl sitting on the top in the middle is a garden statue I added color to. The girl in the top Left riding the damselfly was riding a pony. I cut them all out and pasted them in this image. My reposting of this is to see what the artists in 2023 think of it Below are the notes I wrote way back in 2012. This is the first time I've re-posted an image. I hope you enjoy!
I was inspired by the work of my friend, Donkeyoatey to create this. He wondered what magic happens in the garden when everyone is asleep and that is how this came to be.
When twilight settles in your garden or a meadow, what magical things occur? This is my version of what happens there. I believe these two places become magical playgrounds for fairy children. Just imagine all the things that become wonderful playthings.
IN this image. the lovely Cardinal flower has become a super slide for these children. They've wasted not a single minute and trying it out. As they slide and squeal in delight. An older child sits above and supervises them as they play. With tiny wings no one ever falls they just fly back to the top of the petal and slide down again. In the upper left one fairy is even riding a damsel fly. Though this fairy child can fly anytime she wants, who can resist the fun of riding on a darting damselfly? Down below we see fire flies arriving and glowing in the night time sky...but are they really fireflies or fairies in disguise coming to join the fun.
Since fairies are magical, what would happen if a bunch of them gathered in a tight knit bunch? My answer is "Fairy Rings", magical circles of light that appear as circular rainbows! What do you think? Let your mind have fun and enjoy!
Thanks SO much for stopping by!
Special thanks to Donkeyoatey who's work always inpsires my creative side!
