I have always had a healthy caution when it comes to cacti as a few weeks after my husband and I wed (nearly 40 years ago) whilst delivering a washing machine he fell backwards down the stairs straight into the arms of a large cactus. There were numerous jokes over the 2-way radio as they drove him to the hospital to get the many needles removed, hence I stay well away. This one however did catch my eye and I felt it warranted a photograph so very carefully I moved between the other plants to enable a clear area to show the shoot on the side such an amazing blue against the green of the main body.
