This is another one of my drawings where a FAR member allowed me to use their photograph as a reference document for creating this pointillism drawing. Pointillism is the creating of the artwork using all dots, laid down individually by the hand of the artist. The challenge with this art form, this technique is the picking of the various colors to be used that when the eye blends them they create a cohesive flowing composition.
The pointillism technique creates an expressionistic image where lights and colors only become the image. The intent is that the viewers eye puts the dots together into a image. When viewed up close they are individual dots of color, and when viewed from a distance the individual dots of color merge and join one another to create a flowing composition.
The artwork takes time to create because the artist must first dissect the subjects within the composition, determine which colors will create/recreate them, the various other elements of the composition and then how the eye will merry them all back together so the image has a good visual appeal and flow to the artist & the observer.
I hope you will take the time to look and I hope you enjoy my attempts her at creating a Tiger Drinking. And then leave me your thoughts on the process and the work being displayed.
