The Snow Queen [Danish: Snedronningen] is a Fairy Tale by Hands Christian Andersen, first published in 1845. It tells the story of Gerda and Kay. Gerda goes on a long journey to save her friend Kay, who was hit by the splinter of a magic mirror. The splinter turned his heart to ice, so he lost his ability to feel love or any emotion. He is claimed by the Snow Queen, emperor of all lands with perma ice. The fairytale is frequently reprinted. It is also adapted frequently in literature and transformed into several theater, movie and TV versions and into a video game.
