The most stunning feature of the Emily Morgan hotel, San Antonio Texas is perhaps the rich decorated facade which mirrors its history. The Landmark once the Medical Arts Building, was sold in 1975 and converted into an office building. It was sold again in 1982 and became the now famous Emily Morgan Hotel.
A popular urban legend says that Emily Morgan let herself be captured by the Mexican Army in the American-Mexican war. She caught the attention of the Mexican General Santa Anna with her beauty. While Santa Anna was enjoying his romance, Sam Huston surrounded Santa Anna?s troops at San Jacinto. The General was captured while trying to escape in woman's cloth. It is said that Emily Morgan inspired the popular song "Yellow Rose of Texas".
