food is amazingly fresh in Germany, but I got a bad stomach. My doctor thought of all sorts of things, then hit on it- you have been drinking tap water-- Evidently, in England we re-bleach time and again our drinking and toilet water 100% so it kills all known germs, our stomach's get used to it. In Germany they leave a certain tiny percentage in, as it is natural for water to have a few germs, and this was upsetting my system, that or the water pipes the communists had never changed and were then being slowly renewed!! Boiled water from then on, in China and other Asian countries when teaching there, I only drink tea, same reason. She was a lovely lady and I got on like a house on fire with her, we actually had a lot in common, she was an eastern refugee as was I. the ones who stayed in Germany had an easier and better time of it than we did who went further afield.
