Mixed Media Photograph of the Month Contest Entry

This mixed media, initially made for a contest but not finished in time, was created from a photo of a starfish which was just beneath the water surface at a high reef at low tide. The starfish was surrounded by algae and maritime plants. The photo was enhanced in colors, the light was adjusted, and an accentuation filter was used. I used distortion filters and paint brushes to distort the original and create the swirl.
