...Just a little, yellow VIOLA

by PeglegDeb Interested in this? Contact The Artist

VIOLA is a large genus of 500+ species of annuals, perennials, and subshrubs. They are grown primarily for their 5-petaled flowers in every color of the rainbow. Cultivars are classified as garden 'Pansies', 'Violas' or 'Violettas', differing in habit and flower characteristics. VIOLA flowers may be used to decorate salads and it's young leaves are edible raw or cooked.

A diminutive flower, the VIOLA has a whole array of meanings, many to do with color, many to do with its gentle size and appearance. Most meanings are pleasant ones, denoting spiritual wisdom, humility and faithfulness and the fondness people have for the flower has placed it on the calendar as the flower for the month of February. With a history connected to many myths, it isn't surprising that the 'Violet' is the flower of Greece.
