I realize this is not greatest image but I tried to get a shot of the fruit bats in one tree as we walked along a nature trail in Burnett Heads. These were a fair distance over some swampy ground but this is just one tree and there was probably another 30-40 trees with the same numbers hanging - the noise is what attracts your attention then as you get closer the smell can be overpowering if the wind is in the right direction. If you want to see them closer I posted two images earlier from a different area of Queensland.
