This is a graphite pencil rendition of a painting by Patrice Murciano. I loved the idea of rendering a painting in pencil and this thought fostered the following poem which likens paint to tears (hence, its title). Happy viewing, reading and reviewing if you do! R
'Like Paint'
Like paint they flow
South to my lips.
Away in drips
With hope they go.
Like paint they hide
What lies below.
They sink my woe
Beneath the tide.
Like paint they smear
And blot and pock
My cheeks. They mock
And shame my fear.
Like paint they dry
When I am done -
The tears that run
Down from each eye.
