For this contest I chose to present Mother Teresa because whenever love and faith is mentioned, her image comes at top of the mind. I did this drawing on Strathmore drawing paper, 300gsm , 8"x10",using graphite pencils, HB,6B and 8B and added the light effects to show the light from Heaven showering blessings on her. I would like to quote the editorial that appeared in the local news papaer soon after her canonization last year. 'quote' This refers to the editorial, ?Mother attains sainthood? (September 6). Mother Teresa's canonization into sainthood is a fitting honour to the great soul who enriched everything and everybody through her pristine ways of living and pure thoughts. The Mother was an embodiment of love and an epitome of hope. The utmost faith and goodwill with which she went about serving the destitutes, was unmatched till she passed away in 1997. Teresa was a selfless human-being with loads of compassion, sympathy and empathy written all over her persona. The hungry, deprived, and the abandoned didn't require to look beyond her for help with a smile. Teresa's aim in life was to serve the poor. Countless orphanages and schools by Teresa, for the needy, stand testimony to the noble work done by her. Managing the ill and the diseased was the her forte. She was a nurse as well a doctor to patients afflicted by leprosy, tuberculosis and HIV who found solace in Teresa's insightful and humanitarian touch in whatever she did. 'unquote'
