This is Shailja, my second daughter-in -law who is an avid runner. For nearly a decade,she has been running in a number of marathon runs all over the major cities in the world. Boston, SF in USA, Spain, Japan, Germany, London and of course all over India and has clocked very good timing by figuring in the first 10 places always in her age group.
What is remarkable is that age is not in her side. Shailja is 39 years young, and is a mother of 2 charming kids,aged 12 and 7. She divides her household duties with her passion for running in a remarkable balanced way! Her husband, my second son, accompanies her sometimes in half marathon and is a constant source of encouragement for her. She has set an example in the Indian sports field for women how a woman can achieve with persistence, determination and encouragement. She figures prominently in marathon news coverage.
I felt that as a token of appreciation to Shailja,I should her in action in the 'Action' contest! I took this shot in a a recent marathon run held in Bombay. This was nearing the finishing line.
