A zebra escapes a lioness and her cubs

The Zebra Escapes

by Pamela Ruggiero

I titled this The Zebra Escapes because I wanted to be sure you knew that that one lioness in the upper right can?t catch a zebra by herself. The two foreground animals are cubs. Not tiny, but not hunters yet. The cub on the left across the path is also of no help with this hunt. All are camouflaged and the two foreground cubs have given away their position. It really takes 2-3 lionesses to bring down a healthy zebra. There are two hills behind the lioness and cub. Additionally, the lioness is pointed in the wrong direction to chase and the zebra is almost full speed.
