Mysore Bonda Recipe is simple and tasty evening snack that is loved by everyone in India. This is a very famous street side food that has people standing in big queue. I have very good memories of eating crispy yet soft bondas sitting inside my car. Deep fried snacks are fav for all South Indian people. This particular Mysore bonda is very famous in karnataka. I have been a big fan of Bondas as I have grown up eating this 24x7.

'Bonda', a super delicious evening snack made from Urad Dal (Black Gram). Crispy on the outside and very soft n spongy inside. Perfect to dunk into a bowl of spicy coconut chutney (seen in the picture) and served along aside a cup of hot Chai.(Indian tea) Chutney is a dip made from grinding coconut with some grams, flavoured curry leaves with a dash of green chillies!

A recipe for Bonda is mentioned in Manasollasa, a 12th-century Sanskrit encyclopedia compiled by Someshvara III, who ruled from present-day Karnataka.(South India)

Some regional variants replace the potato with tapioca (Tapioca Bonda) or sweet potato and some onion, hard boiled egg (Mutta Bonda), masala, minced meat and other ingredients.
Vegetable Bonda is my all-time favourite where fresh green peas and other finely chopped vegetables like French beans, carrot and coriander leaves are used as filling.

Bondas shot from my cellphone in a traditional restaurant. As you can see they are served on Banana leaves in a traditional way. In south India even to day food is served on banana leaves in many parts of South India.
