APRIL 2018 OPEN CHALLENGE Contest Entry
This was so much fun I may do a series. I really like the black background and the inks worked very well. I called this mixed media because I initially started with pastels, did not like the effect, and brushed most of it off and then used the opaque and transparent inks.
Post Type: Mixed Media Traditional Art
Mixed Media: Some | I wanted to create a vibrant expressive piece with a black background. I sketched the composition on pastel board with white charcoal as I was originally going to complete this in pastels. Once I had it sketched out I decided to use water color inks. I then inked in the black background using the India ink. I then used opaque inks to create the foliage and the branch the toucan is perched upon. Next I completed the toucan using opaque and transparent inks. I then tidied of the background and called it finished. This took me three days to complete. I finished it today, April 30, 2014.
